How this questionnaire works:
Why did we develop this questionnaire and scoring system? The reason is that we have found that couples like to know where their divorce “ranks” in terms of difficulty. This can be very helpful information when trying to determine what kind of divorce service is going to work best for your situation. Knowing this can save you thousands of dollars, months of time, and reduce your stress level considerably. A Common Ground Divorce Specialists can give you a fairly accurate projection of the cost of your divorce and how long it will take based on your scores. Determining the difficulty of your divorce is not an exact science. This questionnaire is normally very accurate however; we don’t what you to have expectations that are unrealistic based on your results of your score. This is simply a tool to create a starting point.
There are three categories being measured in this questionnaire. Number One is the level of conflict that you have.
The second category is the level of complexity that your divorce might have. This just helps the divorce specialist to determine which issues will need to be addressed regardless if you agree or not. (Example: A couple that had been married 20 years with a home and 5 children, that also owned a business, that also had a significant retirement might agree on everything but they will still have a “complex” divorce agreement.)
The third category measures “ability to collaborate”. This helps the divorce specialist determine the level of difficulty of you being able to work collaboratively with your spouse. Some couples have a high level of conflict but are able to still negotiate and thus are collaborative.
The very most complex and high conflict divorce situation would likely require the intervention of a professional
mediator and maybe even
Collaborative Family Law attorneys. It may also require the use of a
Retired Judge advisory panel if the couple cannot find any common ground. The most simple divorce situation may only require a
Divorce Coach and our
Fast Track Divorce Service or to save even more time and money using the
Utah Online Divorce Assistance Program might be best.
You will be receiving a personalized response with your score and evaluation either via email or phone call (which ever you marked) within the next 24 hours. If you would like to learn how these scores measure the cost of your divorce and want to compare the costs of a “no courtroom” divorce vs. a litigated divorce then visit our
Divorce Cost Calculator page to see which service and cost might be best for you.
